AFTER the game on Saturday me and a few friends were discussing how we had
ended up in this position, and I think the general consensus was that the
board were at the root of all that had gone on over the last 12 months.
Starting with the refusal to make money available to strengthen the squad
during the January 2007 transfer window, when the Wanderers were fourth in
the table and still in the FA Cup.
From here on in the team went through a
very poor run of form, and if we hadn't the points on the table we would in
probability have been relegated. This is when we think Sam made his mind up
to quit, the Club could not match his ambition.

Then the board without consulting anybody, and completely against the fans
wishes, promoted Sammy Lee to Manager, it's not that the fans don't like
Sammy Lee or have no respect for him, he just didn't have the Managerial
experience needed to be successful in the Premier League.
Sammy Lee was let go in October, and then to compound the fans frustration
they appoint Gary Megson a Manager struggling in the Championship.
But
having said that we thought he'd made a fist of it until the City, Everton,
and Sunderland games, and then the worst game I can remember in recent
history, the FA. Cup Third Round against Sheffield United.
The Manager was definitely to blame for this one, playing Bratten up front
on his own with very little support, no McCann and no Samuels, two players
who should have played, but the biggest disgrace of them all was not to have
had Anelka on the bench to get us that goal we so desperately needed to give
us a little pride back.
So when you read or hear Megson spouting in the paper that he doesn't want
Anelka to go, take it with a very large pinch of salt, the board and Megson
didn't want him cup tied, he'll fetch in more money that way.
So as a group we probably have combined support years of 150 years and
because we consider ourselves to be true supporters we will see this season
out, if nothing changes in the very near future i.e. Phil Gartside
resigning, greater investment brought in I think you just might see the
support fall even further.
