Wanderers eye Dutch ace

Comments (34)A DUTCH forward may realise his dream to play in the Premiership by signing for Wanderers.
Hitman Mustapha Riga is in the process of trying to get his contract with financially stricken Spanish club Levante annulled due to non-payment of wages.
If he is successful, he will be looking to sign for an English club which would not have to pay a fee for him.
According to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, the 26-year-old Ghana-born Dutchman has been in talks with Wanderers.
If there was interest from Gary Megson it appears he would have a good chance of signing a man who has scored 28 goals in 104 appearances for the troubled club.
“I chose to come to Spain first, but you never know. If there is an official offer I would not hesitate,” he said.

I was thinking more like Huntelaar or a full international. This guy is well off the radar of being an ace - unless he comes in and scores 20 goals for us.

I wouldn't have thought we'd be willing to part with the money that Everton are after. Myself I don't think he is worth that much. I bet we could get Anelka back for £8mil again.

its all gone a bit quiet on the tranfer front apart from this dutch guy. we realised quite a few players this season and have only bought two in and we had a bare squad last season.
im hoping megson is biding his time. but we are missing on quite a few players so far, steed malbranque would have been perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a misleading headline.... I honestly thought we were going for some Klaas at last (see where I'm going?).
Pity its not Huntelaar. BTW all my Dutch colleagues here say that Mustapha Riga is neither a hitman or a Dutch ace. Who is giving the spin here?

AFRICAN aces El Hadji Diouf and Abdoulaye Meite returned to training today despite doubts over their Bolton futures.
The duo were excused last week's pre-season camp in Austria after playing summer World Cup qualifiers for Senegal and the Ivory Coast.
Diouf wants to quit the Reebok but interest from French, Spanish and Premier League clubs for his services has been lukewarm.
And with a £5m price tag on his head, Diouf could well play out the remaining 12 months of his current deal with Bolton.
Meite is back from France but could leave the club faster than his team-mate.
Hull City boss Phil Brown says the Premier League new boys are holding talks with Trotters' chairman Phil Gartside over Meite's services.
Wanderers are believed to want at least £2m for the former Marseille centre-half.
Manager Gary Megson also welcomed back keeper Ali Al Habsi and record signing Johan Elmander for the next stage of pre-season training.
Al Habsi was also involved in close season World Cup qualifiers with Oman while Elmander was on international duty for Sweden in Euro 2008.
Wanderers play their first pre-season friendly at Rochdale on Friday night and that is followed by Saturday's trip to Macclesfield.
And newcomer Fabrice Muamba will also make his bow following a £5m move from Birmingham.
"One of the things I didn't feel we had enough of last season was running power," said Megson.
"Both lads that we have brought in this summer will give us that, particularly Fabrice, who is a real athlete on the pitch.
"He has got real ability but the exciting thing from our point of view is that he can get even better.
"But whether people have been here for 10 minutes or 10 years, there are certain levels I am expecting from everyone.
"I expect them to be working hard, being part of the team and giving it their best shot for the club that pays their wages."
Megson still hasn't given up hope of bringing in at least one new face before the start of the new campaign.
