STAR striker Nicolas Anelka says Bolton Wanderers are in talks with Chelsea, but his club has denied it.
"The chairmen discuss, I hope that it will be carried out," Anelka told L'Equipe Magazine in an interview to be published this weekend. "I especially hope that I qualify for the Champions League.
"But as long as the contract is not signed and that I have not been introduced to the press with my new shirt, nothing is fact."

Wanderers, however, prior to their vital home clash with Derby County, denied that they are in talks with the wealthy London club.
The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea look to strengthen their strikeforce and manager Avram Grant confirmed on New Year's Day he is a big admirer of Anelka and refused to rule out a swoop for the former Arsenal and Real Madrid forward.
Wanderers manager Gary Megson has consistently denied that there have been any offers, but his star striker has confirmed he hopes a deal can be struck to allow him to move to West London.
Anelka claims talks are ongoing between the clubs and that he is interested in playing at the highest level with Chelsea.
Anelka also refused to rule out a possible return to Manchester City, with Sven Goran Eriksson also thought to be keen on signing the French international.
The 28-year-old admits the lure of playing for Eriksson is an attractive proposition if City make a move for his services.
"I want to play for a prestigious club, which City became with a manager like Eriksson, who I was already very ready to join in 1999 with Lazio," added Anelka.
It is believed that Bolton and Chelsea are struggling to reach an agreement over the fee for Anelka with the Reebok outfit valuing their star man more than the £10million the London club are willing to pay for the much-travelled striker.
Anelka admits if no move fails to materialise, he would have no problem staying at Bolton as he is content at the club.
"To remain in Bolton, where I am happy, would not be a punishment either," concluded Anelka.
The France forward signed a new four-year contract earlier this season but his superb form this campaign - where he has already scored 10 goals - has seen him heavily linked to a move to a bigger club.
Bolton are expected to ask around £19million for Anelka - £11million more than they paid Fenerbahce for him in August 2006.
And his agent Doug Pingisi is sure the in-form frontman is destined to leave sooner rather than later.
"Nico is ready to join a club at the height of his talent and his football," he said. "I would love to see him sing the Champions League anthem every year."

whan apsoluted wan*er...after all that the club has done for him he could show the same respect to the us. after these comments i dont know whether i would want a player who feels he is yet again too big to play for bolton wanderers in our squad, use the money wisely megson (thats if he gets any)

Fair enough he deserves to play in champions league, we will struggle to replace him, but he has a contract to us, if we have any ambition we have to keep in unless chelsea make us an offer we can't refuse! i.e £19 million. If Darren Bent costs £17 m these days then £19m is fair! If they want him they will have to cough up. Anelka with service = goals wherever he plays.
Being realistic knowing bwfc they will take what they can get. If we go down it will cost us £30million, who would we get to replace nico??

The whole translation ive just taken from the lequipes website.
In a report to appear next Saturday in THE Equipe Magazine, Nicolas Anelka, the attack of the Bolton Wanderers, does not hide that it would like to rejoin fastest possible the Blues of Chelsea. "The presidents discuss, I hope that that will realize itself. Especially that I am qualifiable for the League of the champions. But as long as the contract is not signed and that I was not presented to the press with my new shirt one, nothing is done" tempers the one that already marked ten goals this season in First League.
His agent Doug Pingisi equally started discussions with Manchester City, club for which Anelka played between 2002 and 2004. For the French, a return in the second club of Manchester would not be for as much a regression. "I want to leave in a more upper-crust club, which became City with a to manage as Eriksson, that I already was all ready one to rejoin in 1999 to the Lazio of Rome."
Greedy Bolton
The discussions with Chelsea and Manchester City stumble for the moment on the transfer amount. Bolton shows itself in fact very greedy. The Wanderers claim 26 million Euros, be fourteen of more than the paid out sum to drag it from the Turkish club of Fenerbahçe. "To remain at Bolton, where I am happy, would not be not more a punishment" explains Anelka. His agent shows himself nevertheless enough confiding. "Nico is ready to rediscover a club to the height of his talent and of his soccer, hammers Doug Pingisi. I would like that every year, it sings the hymn of the League of the champions."

Respect to the guy, he wanted to come back to The Prem, display what he can do, and he's been rewarded for his fine performances by interest from one of the big four.
Nic doesn't owe us anything, if he had come here, lounged on the big wages, played poorly and sulked then it would be another issue.
Lets just see what darkside does with the cash, does he buy Gudjohnsen or whoever or does he line the club owners pockets more?

The thing that bothers me is that the 2 seasons we escaped relegation, when we were deep in the brown stuff. There was one player with that extra bit of quality that got us out.First season it was Youri, then it was Jay Jay,wt the hell are we goin to do now??!?
Its funny you should say Eidur,i was thinkin the same thing, would he come tho?

this is more media bullshit, released just before we play a game. How many times are spurs or newcastle after a player who they just happen to be coming up against that very day, it's all about who people know in the media & when to let things out. Nic has scored goals, proven he can work in a team like Bolton but if we can get a lot more for him than we bought him for then we have to. Why hate the guy for that, it's better than someone like Bianchi at city who already wants to move after scoring maybe half a dozen goals.

here we have it again - what is exactly going on at the club: first we have Jussi now Nico; why oh why can`t the club be honest and tell the fans what is going on - we pay our money, we have a voice, we are listening Mr Gartside !!

shut up with the whole good luck to anelka attitude...the club should not be a selling club. I agree with the whole youri and jayjay idea too, with us lingering around the drop zone how are we going to survive this season because from where im sitting there is no player in our team who will score enough goals to keep us on a consistant run of results.

WHY ONLY 10 MILL FOR ANELKA CLUB NO AMBITION and why we'er at it,
Chelsea's £26m Berba swoop - The Sun
Chelsea are looking to outbid Manchester United to sign Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov and are prepared to go up to £26million to secure the Bulgarian's services. Is Berbatov set to quit White Hart Lane?

Come on lads this is hardly unexpected now is it? The sooner we all realise and accept that A.) the club or more pertinantly the board DON'T have any ambition or Foresight, B.) they will and always have had their collective eyes on a perceived/instant profit and we will ALWAYS be a selling club if they think the price is right. It has always been so and I have had a season ticket since Ian Greaves' days, but no longer - Away games only now, the small men with inversely proportionate egos that run our club aren't having another tanner of mine - Fickle aren't I?
