I will never forget the abuse he got at City. They crucified him. One of Sams less attractive signings.

Never mind the problems with the White Colombian Marching Powder addiction, I think he had a problem with Mcdonalds, KFC and Burger King addiction when he was at the Reebok.

It didn't help that one of his fellow team mates at Lisbon was at it with his missus! Then he came here and one of ours was at it too! (Not naming any names but he went to Birmingham!).

Why can't we comment on the Sam story? Also Neil Bonnar - when did Sam say this and to who? It's not very informative.

If we cant comment on the sam story in the appropriate place we should do it here! sam mentions the break up of the back room staff as a big reason why we are struggling... didnt he take a lot of them to newcastle meaning we had to change things?

I am sure youre right. People with an IQ of less than 10 should not be allowed on this site, but sadly some do get through. It was great to see Sam on Sky Sports speaking with authority on his subject. A giant of men compared to our current Chairman and the 2 Yes Men he has appointed since.

It was a gamble by Allardyce that at the time seemed worthwhile but unfortunately didn't come off. Allardyce made other mistakes too but his achievements far outweigh the failures. And I'm sure all sensible supporters would agree with this. In a BN story headlined Big Sam Savages Whites, Allardyce is reported saying: "To see the demise of a team that was put together over a huge period of time and then virtually all pulled apart, and I am not just talking about on the field but off the field, is quite sad and upsetting for me." Big Sam Savages Whites is an incendiary headline and Allardyce's remarks could hardly be described as scathing. Wanderers supporters are almost unanimous in their dissatisfaction with the on-field and off-field management of Megson and Gartside. A majority of supporters want to see the back of this pair, and surviving relegation won't change their view, neither will Pravda propaganda tactics by the Bolton Evening News.

No doubting the success he brought us over his 8 years but big sam did rip a lot of our backroom staff apart when he left.. Again, it wasnt directed at bwfc but at gartside!!! He wanted to show pg that it was him and mainly him that built bwfc up and that he could also take it down again at any time, trouble is, that personal feud has done serious long term damage to our club and not just gartside. i still think sam will be back one day in some capacity !! at the minute though, lets just concentrate on survival!!!

The comments were made on Talksport yesterday morning. I agree with the vast majority of what he was saying, however I think Sam was being disingenous when he said it was sad that things were pulled apart off the field as well. Unfortunately he was responsible for a lot of that by enticing a lot of Bolton's back room staff away to Newcastle. Don't forget as well that it was he who recruited Sammy Lee to our club as well who is more responsible than most for what has been a catastrophic season.

If you heard the actual interview (and the tone of his voice) yesterday on talkSPORT you would realise that everything Big Sam said was actually spot-on. He said it became clear that sufficient funds would not be made available to develop the club further than we were at the time. He now looks at the club, "which is my boyhood club", and sees all his good work being torn apart. By the tone of his voice he would probably more likely to have had a tear in his eye rather than looking like a roaring lion. No wonder we're rubbish - the setup at the time was brilliant: players well looked after, treated properly (in a scientific and medical way). I can imagine the only thing to do with medicine in Mr Megson's training regime would be a medicine ball! "Here...do a few squats with that, run round the pitch a few times and then have a kick about." ???

hopefully sam can come back and sort out this mess at the reebok. its public knowledge of his and gartsides tiff so the only way that hed be back is leading some kind of consortium, and i think all these rumours have no real truth to them. allardyce wants to get back into management so i think the only real possibility weve got of getting rid of megson and gartside is a random takeover i just cant get excited about the wanderers with these guys in charge. even in the midst of what should be an exciting relegation battle, i just really dont care. every game is so boring these days. there need to be changes at the top or else the club risks losing a lot of fans like me, who think football should be exciting and played in the pursuit of victory, rather than this stagnant rubbish we watch every week whos going to be that joyous about avoiding relegation?????? knowing we have another season with these goons in charge. my reaction will be one of apathy, excitement is impossible under the current regime, who have squeezed the fun out of the game

If you go onto TalkSport's website you can hear the interview on there. I totally agree with Allardyce, there has been complete mismanagement of our club and it all boils down to Gartside. Replacing the best English manager at the time with a total amateur was not only the cheap option, it was the wrong option. 12 months ago the Bolton job was very attractive, and 12 months ago Megson wouldn't even have got a sniff at it. Then replacing Lee with Megson was again a cheap choice. Bruce for £3m or Megson for £300k, there only one choice for Gartside. In the hiring procedure he goes to Mark Curtis, Megson's former agent for advice and what a big surprise that a former client of Curtis gets the job. Then onto the Anelka fiasco, we were promised contingency plans if our top player was sold, and who do we get in a moment of panic when such plans don't materialise. A player who is arguably the worst player to ever wear the white shirt. There is also the management of Lee, who had perhaps the worse summer transfer window in our clubs history. Totally lost the dressing room with poor methods. Then Megson has proved to be tactically inept as shown since January, and the lack of effort by players under Megson at times (i.e. Villa away) has shown he isn't the right man to take the club forwards. To have seen our club implode the way it has over the last 12 months is saddening, but I do hope we stay up because the Premiership is the place to be. But I just hope that staying up doesn't mean the staying of Gartside, as he has to be held accountable for his decisions over the last 12 months, and even the past few years because not giving the financial backing to Allardyce has shown to be criminal. GARTSIDE OUT!!

I still feel that it was perhaps time for Big Sam to move on but only if a top class manager was sought who could continue the good work evolving the playing side unlike LSL who was a cheap, yes man, risky appointment who tried to change way too much yet preached about evolution rather than revolution - cretin. Thinking of those interviews still make me cringe. Having said all that considering the current predicament we are in i would have Sam back.

All this is divide-and-rule tactics to keep Mr Megson and Mr Gartside in charge at the Reebok. It won't work because no self-respecting supporters want these two in charge. Both articles are opportunities to disparage Allardyce and thereby promote Megson and Gartside.

I too agreed with a lot of what Sam said, but he's hardly going to admit to anything that has happened since his departure was his fault. He did cause a lot of upheaval in the backroom staff by taking some and enticing others. But [bold]allegedly[/bold] Sammy Lee on taking over as manager went into the offices etc and asked everyone who had been hired by BSA and those that said they had, he asked them all to leave. I don't know how truthful this is, but it supposedly originates from inside the club.

[/quote] so basically the limit of your ambition is premier league at all costs. whats the point in just making up the numbers???? we cannot possibly win the league so we should be looking at things we can win. this year weve thrown away 3 cup competitions we could have possibly won with favourable draws, especially the FA cup, en route to the final wed have only played boro and city from the top division. id take winning some trophies any day over turning up to just make up the numbers and see torres, fabragas, ronaldo etc... which is what we are doing in the prem ideally what we should be doing is using the extra premier league money to buy better players and give ourselves a better chance in the cup competitions, but thats not been happening. the premier league is so much a higher priority because of the money answer me this: what is the point in us staying up this season????? are we gonna use this money to try and win things????? or are we at the limit of our ambition just staying in the prem????? what are you gonna say when you look back at this period of our history... Thanks to those people who said it was on Talk Sport. When I read the BN Big Sam article I thought that doesn’t sound right – how can I make my mind up about some brief regurgitated article in which you can’t tell what context it was meant? It is very poor journalism...again! Saturday is crunch time (again...or still). I wonder what rubbish certain players will be told to say in pointless articles this week! Me...cynical...surel y not! :-)

9 seasons cover the period from when Allardyce became Bolton manager to the present time.The first 6 years were some of the finest days at our club for many years, down to the regime that was brought in (manager, players and coaches).The last 12 months have been unfortunate and embarassing with 3 managers and a slide down the league. However the critical time was the 2 seasons leading up to the events of last April. This is when the gains of the 6 years were not built on and the team started to decline.Allardyce was the epitome of "The Plateaued Manager", sitting in the comfort zone, in the frame for the England job(he thought so) and chummy-chummy with Fat Phil in the stands.Nothing was really done in those 2 seasons to maintain the team.That is where the decline in the team started from. I note that Sven is about to be P45ed by Taxman Shinawatra at City. No comfort zone there. A better manager than Allardyce is being disposed of by a harder chairman than Gartside. Which club of Bolton and City would you say is doing it right?

I have to disagree with you Andy. There was continued under-investment in the team, and Sam's wheel and deal methods which he had to resort to due to Gartside meant that such board room management could only take the club so far. Allardyce wanted more, which is why he put himself in the shop window for the England job, and eventually left to manage under Sheppard at Newcastle. It all boils down to Gartside not knowing how to run a football club properly. He had the chance when we were near the top to invest in the squad and take us onto another level with Allardyce as our manager. In the January transfer window he gave around £13m to Megson and apparently thatw asn't from the Anelka money. How much did Allardyce ever get from Gartside in a transfer window?! It will be around the same mark from when Anelka joined us but the point is that Gartside didn't invest at the right time. He did it at a time when we were in trouble and to a manager who had no experience in buying top players. Fair enough Megson has brought in some good players, but I think Allardyce could have brought in better, and kept our better players.

which better players could he have kept? I didn't think we had sold any of our better players apart from Faye and Anelka.

When will our chairman be making a statement about current affairs relating to BWFC? Tell us about the ambition of the club , what we can look forward to in the summer if we survive or not as the case might be( Normally at this stage we are being issued with season ticket prices for next year ). The silence is deadly inside the reebok these days.Surely to justify his wages Mr Gartside should be communicating with the fans more.I would have thought Phil would like to make a statement in reaction to words spoken by Sam. If that means season ticket holders not renewing until he is removed, then so be it, we have to make a stand now, for the future of our club. To anyone saying relegation is no bad thing,look at the bottom of the Championship at the clubs trying to avoid the drop to the second division. Southampton, Leicester, Coventry, Sheff Weds, all recent premier league clubs. Take away our Sky money plus losing our better players, add in the current debt at the club, and you could see us being in a similar position within 2 years, then next step Forest or Leeds. It is vital that we stay up, but whatever happens Megson must go as soon as possible

What frightens me the most is the type of player Megson can attract.Sam did a tremendous job in attracting quality - i am convinced we would be approaching Gillingham for players rather then top european sides.This guy will not command the respect that top managers require to attract the best!! Take note Phil Gartside.

My worry is that Gartside is waiting for us to survive before justifying his choice of Megson and presenting him as the saviour of the clubs premier status. Youre quite right about Megsons ability to recruit quality players. We could drop like a Leeds or Forest with him in charge I agree with all of Big Sams comments. 8 years to build, 8 months to destroy, Megson out!!

Sam knew exactly what he was doing when he left last year unfortunately it didn't work out for any of us. He took most of the backroom staff and would gladly have taken most of our players had he been able to. Truth hurts but he felt he had out grown Bolton. Had he stayed he was right he had the most secure job in football, but he chose to leave and I am sure deep down he regrets the decision, but it was always going to happen because every job that came available his name was linked, which made him think he could do better - sad but true.

The debt would soon become unsustainable based on the lower incomes into the club, and what would Davies do then?? Obviously no one wants this to happen, so this is why its vital we stay up.
