Joey's season could be is over

JOEY O'Brien could be rested for Wanderers' final two games of the season, despite getting a clean bill of health after his latest injury scare.

The young midfielder was withdrawn just 20 minutes into his comeback game at Spurs last weekend after suffering more hamstring trouble.

It was not related to the hamstring problem that had kept him out of the previous two games and subsequent scans failed to find anything untoward.

But Gary Megson believes the 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who missed the whole of last season with a knee poblem and has been plagued by niggling injuries this campaign, could benefit from a break and a fresh start.

"We've got to get Joey a good pre-season under his belt," the Wanderers boss said after the youngster's latest setback.

"It's a nightmare for him. He'd trained for two or three days and seemed fine but then his other hamstring went. He was knackered after just 10 minutes."

Is first full season after a bad injury . A young player who can only get better. Think a few people are being abit harsh on young joey . He is learning a new position aswell and think he might be a good player for us in the future . Might be wrong though but will see next season .

How will he improve with age? Like Nolan and Vaz Te? Poor player, if we are in the Championship next year Megson will end up trying to build the team around him and Nolan and it will be shown that neither are good enough even for that level. When I think of the midfield we used to have in the Championship (eg Sellars, Frandsen, Kelly, Jensen, Johanssen, Thompson) its heartbreaking to see the donkeys that we call midfielders these days.

jon, i cant believe you are calling these lads donkeys, how many premiership games did johannsen play, a championship winger if ever i saw one, joey obrien had a serious injury and has played in some of those matches that you so thoroughly enjoy, as for nolan, what is your problem, we'd have been in the champions league without nolan wouldnt we, its him that stopped us getting any further than the top 8 the last four seasons! a player like nolan if he's so bad cant play 7 years in the premiership and the 4 best in 50 years, i just cant believe the posts you are posting at the moment jon, one minute youre enjoying it, next we're all crap harping back to championship players, none of the above were involved in anything when we were actually good ie top 8,jenson was sold, johannson would rather play scandinavian football, sellars and frandsen havent been involved when we have moved up to the big plate in the last four seasons, possibly frandsen briefly, as for kelly (lol) what planet are you on, the guy was an excellent player but was too lazy to lose weight he would have been a laughing stock at this level we had to get rid, he would have made 'jardel' look like linford christie, ooh i'd love to have some of these instead of jj, dioufy, stelios,! age tends to dull the senses, i often long to watch mike salmon floundering in goals, sutty heading fresh air, and david hoggans crab like runs to the dugout, not to mention ian moores aerial prowess in the warmups, i think in truth you are one of those maschicists who yearn for 4th division football, so you can get ****** with the players and pretend they are your friends when they never were, buy jumpers from the back of john thomas car on the burnden car park after training and watch robbie savage show his 'arse' out of the team coach window, halycion days but gone. get a grip and stop harping back to the past enjoy the match and many premier seasons to come.

Now that's what I call hedging your bets. The BN is becoming more and more like the Framley Examiner.

Trotters1964 - calm down - let me explain.
I've not said anything that most other fans dont think - Nolan and O'Brien are not good footballers. If we were playing Plymouth in the Championship next week would you seriously rather see a midfield of Campo, Nolan, J O'B and Cohen than Frandsen, Sellars, Jensen and Johanssen? Get real. Seriously, you did not watch those players play if you think the current midfield could lace their boots. By the way I would have Guthrie and Stelios in any of our midfields of the past, but if its upto Megson they wont play, he wants "solid" players. We'll just have to disagree on Nolan, you obviously rate him, I havent seen him pass to a white shirt for about 3 years. As for "1 minute I'm enjoying it..." - if I didnt enjoy it I wouldnt go, its what I base my week around - I look forward to going to the match and having 2 hours screaming at every pass and tackle. It was the same when we were playing Halifax in Div 4, it doesnt mean the football on offer was good. I was just responding to an earlier post from someone saying they werent going to the Sunderland game coz Megson has ruined it - my response is I enjoy going to see the team play, that's why I'm going. Nothing controversial! Then someone said we aim to draw 0-0 - again, its nonsense. We may try for 0-0 away from home which is 1 of the reasons I want Mr Negative out, but at home the players on the pitch nearly always take the game to the opposition. No controversy there, I've seen it with my eyes. We're not "all crap" - I enjoy watching most of our players play, I just cant stand some (most) of the decisions Megson makes as to who to leave out. Isnt 90% of fans of the same opinion? Kelly unfit and a laughing stock? How exactly does that make him different to Nolan and Campo? I'll tell you how he was different, he could pass accurately, consistently and could shoot accurately and consistently. You have rose tinted specs on just because we got in the top half of the Prem - nonsense. What have JJ, Stelios, Diouff got to do with this?? I'm talking about the midfield of NOW, that Megson wants to pick, I'm saying its a crying shame that Megson rates these guys when we know we've had better players than them in the league below. Nothing controversial, most BW fans would agree. I really dont know what games you have been watching if you disagree with what I'm saying.
