THE Reebok revival was up and running.
Gary Megson - supposedly the manager they did not want - was hailed "Ginger Mourinho" by the fans as Wanderers set about restoring much of their lost pride.
Unbeaten in five games at home and abroad - including an unforgettable 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup and a first home victory over Manchester United for 29 years - they hauled themselves out of the bottom three of the Premiership and started to look a force once more.
Off the field, Megson made key appointments. Chris Evans, respected for his work heading up the Wolves academy, joined as assistant with special responsibilities for performance assessment and former Everton stalwart, Colin Harvey, arrived as chief scout to spearhead the new recruitment campaign.
