Parking stance may not be so easy to explain

IN a few years' time, the conversation in the home of Barry Moss, parking campaigner, might run like this.

"What did you do in the fight against climate change, grandad?"

"Well, I thought it was more important to focus on car parking."

"What do you mean, grandad?"

"Bolton's car parking bays were a few millimetres out and the signs should have stated wholly within' the bay."

"But wasn't it clear where you had to park, grandad? And didn't your campaign mean the council spent a lot of money unnecessarily?"

"Well . . ."

"And what about obesity, grandad? Wouldn't it have been better to try to get people to use their cars less?"

"Well, perhaps, but . . ."
