Arena’s Elvis show a big disappointment

I TOO was very disappointed with the Elvis concert — not that all the Elvis impersonators were not good, they were great but I shall not be attending Bolton Arena again for anyone (See previous letters, August 21).

My first disappointment came when I saw an advert in The Bolton News stating that the concert was a sell-out but found out that there were still a few tickets left.

I convinced my four friends the following day that it would be a great concert at £28 per ticket as stated in the advert, though I had to pay a £2 per person booking fee. I was a little taken aback but optimistically convinced myself that the concert would be worth it.

We took two cars that evening and drove round in circles trying to park. We eventually got the cars parked for £5 each and then had a lovely long walk in the rain dressed in our finery to the Arena.

We then searched for our seats near the back, tripping up as we walked down the aisle of chairs. My friend’s chair collapsed before he sat on it.

The stage was not elevated so we could not see a thing and, believe me, when I saw some of the people in audience in their lovely dresses. I dread to think how they managed in the portable toilets in the pitch black.

We all went home and had a good wash. The whole night was spent apologising to my friends.

However, if the play Once Upon a Time in Wigan ever comes to Bolton Octagon again, I will confidently be inviting all my friends to that.

It was fantastic value for money and top class in every way – except that no dancing was allowed after the show so we just danced in our seats!
