NORMAN HART Norman, fell asleep peacefully at home on 1st January aged 91. Much loved father to Janet and late son John, father in law to the late John and grandad to Peter and Steven. Husband to the late Ellen and brother to Stanley, Dorothy and Pauline. A good friend to many, Norman led a full and active life following his retirement from farming and was a well known local milkman for many years. Service and committal Monday January 20th Overdale Crematorium (West Chapel) at 2pm. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Bolton Hospice, c/o and all enquiries to Birtwistles Funeral Directors, 356 Halliwell Rd, Bolton, BL1 8AP. Tel 01204 491661.

One of the last remaining gentlemen, Norman is much missed by the Markland Hill and Ladybridge Lane communities. His daily walk put us all to shame as he cheerfully collected the litter distributed randomly by others using these pavements to make the environment a cleaner, safer place for all of us. He always had a cheery word, even when his own life was filled with sadness while Ellen was unwell and, later, when she died and he was one of those people who made you feel better for having spent time with them.
It was a privilege and a pleasure to know him.
