DOROTHY BARNES Peacefully on Wednesday 11th March at Royal Bolton Hospital surrounded by love and family as she was in life, Dorothy aged 85 years. The beloved wife of the late Leonard, much loved Mum of Stephen and Lyn, devoted grandma to Katie, dear sister-in-law of Doreen and Paul and a cherished aunt of Paul and Mary. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral service will be held at Bolton Methodist Mission, Victoria Hall on Thursday 26th March 2020 at 1.00pm followed by a committal at Overdale Crematorium West Chapel at 2.00pm. Family flowers only please, donations to Abafield Care Home for the residents fund in Dorothy's memory will be very appreciated.

Thank you everybody for your kind comments, the family very much appreciate you taking the time to do this. They were such a devoted couple and are now together again.
Given the circumstances, the funeral arrangements have had to be amended. The service will now take place at Overdale at 2pm. There will be a service of thanksgiving for Mum’s life followed by a reception at Bolton Methodist Mission, The Victoria Hall at some point later this year. We do not want anyone to put themselves at risk to attend at Overdale next Thursday, we want people to be safe. An amendment to the arrangements will appear in The Bolton News shortly. Thank you all again ❤️

Stephen, Just read of your mother's passing, and also your father's. So sorry, our condolences from Canada, they were great friends of my mum and dads (Don and Jean Wilson) many years ago when we lived in Bolton. Great memories of the "brass band" days.
