Absolutely Gutted to hear such sad news , Trevor Newton was the best teacher I ever had at Heathfield. After leaving school and venturing in to the corporate world I then met him once or twice in the pub at 4LE. The shift in dynamics was never an issue and to me he was always and always will be SIR.
Holidays in the cotswolds, supporting our fab netball team and genuinely being an all round nice guy Trevor Newton you are a Legend and will always be loved by your grateful pupils whose lives you helped shape . Respect and RIP ❤️

I had the privilege of being one of Mr Newton's pupils in the late 70s at Heathfield Primary. He was a phenomenal teacher. Do many happy memories. Lots of ex pupils are leaving messages on Facebook page Heathfield Primary 1972 to present.

An absolutely phenomenal teacher at Heathfield County Primary school. Everyone loved him, he would go above and beyond for his pupils. I am 53 now and have as much love and affection for him now as i did all those years ago. The world is a less brighter place without you in it. But my memories of you will never fade. Thank you for shaping my life ready for secondary school Mr Newton. My heart goes out to all his family, i hope they get peace from knowing how much he is loved and respected and how many lives he touched. RIP love Elizabeth Hardman x

I am truly sorry to hear this sad news. Trevor was a wonderful teacher and loved his children who in turned loved him. He always had time..... As a newly qualified teacher at Crompton Fold I had the pleasure and privilege of having him as my mentor and from him I learnt so much. He thought the world of his family and my thoughts and prayers are with you, Nicola. God Bless you Trevor. x

Heartfelt sadness. Remembering many special times after we started at Padgate College of Education in 1970.
Driving Nick, John and Geoff to Greece and back in an old Austin was an incredible feat of patience and endurance.
You will be so sadly missed.

Great memories of Mr Newton in the mid eighties. Very intimidating man when your 9 years old, but he was a very kind person, big gentle giant I would say. He was great at drawing and I really enjoyed my year in his class in Westhoughton primary
