Kathleen's grace, intelligence and quiet, gentle authority left an enduring effect on me as something to aspire to, as I got to know Kathleen through long standing membership of the CHA. She taught me many things, including the value of a spoonful of honey a day and of a slow cooker to return to after a walk; increased awareness of the Lake District and a view on not allowing the media to jaundice the importance of politics in creating a fairer world. I feel privileged and grateful to have known her. Julia Watmough
