I'm gonna miss watching the idiots stuck on the rake in the snow, especially those in 4x4's who thought ice wouldn't apply to them..

The council have a duty of care to those residents living on the Rake who have repeatedly had their property’s damaged by vehicles loosing control in adverse weather conditions. Children walking to school have also experienced near misses. HGVs ignore the weight restrictions on the Rake and it would only take one to venture onto the Rake in bad weather and the result would be catastrophic. For many years now the Rake Residents have been unsupported by the council who appear to acquiesce to the demands of Holcombe residents who show no regard or compassion for their neighbours, complaining that the gates will damage the appearance of Holcombe and offend them. Let common sense prevail and protect our children and neighbours.

Excellent, as the situation has been getting worse over the years with the increased traffic. I live in the area and fully support the comments of Mcrbee. People in vehicles failing to negotiate Rawson’s Rake because of ice/snow cause chaos in the whole of the surrounding area, not to mention the danger to their own lives, pedestrians and property of residents. It must certainly benefit the majority of people in the area for a very small amount of inconvenience.
