AS residents of Manchester Road, Over Hulton, we were very pleased to read the article in Friday's Bolton News that the speed limit on the A6 from the Chequerbent roundabout along Manchester Road, heading east, will be cut from 60mph to 40mph, thanks to Cllrs Ashcroft and Morgan.
With speeds of 60mph, this stretch of road is extremely dangerous, as proved by at least five fatalities and numerous serious accidents.
We read, with some disbelief, that Leonard Russell of Bradshaw objected to the change, as he stated he uses this road for training motorists taking their Advanced Motorist Certificate.
Find another venue, Mr Russell, and allow the residents of Manchester Road to cross in safely.
