I WELCOME the comments by Terry Riley and Eric Hyland, about Westhoughton town council paying for things that should be paid for by the council tax (January 8), as it justifies the objections I have made about this in the past.
As they both have a greater knowledge about the rights of town councils than I have, perhaps they could make enquiries to see if an injunction could be taken out against the council to prevent it from further breaking the rules.
Eric Hyland suggests there should be a referendum by the council tax payers in Westhoughton.
I wrote to the town council several years ago about this, but nothing took place.
It is time Westhoughton council tax payers spoke up, and said they have no desire to have extra added to the council tax, or need of an additional council.
