JUST in case you didn’t know it, we have a real history gem in the Horwich Heritage Centre.
It’s run by the Horwich Heritage Society at the Resource Centre in Beaumont Road and is packed with information and artefacts about the area and in particular Horwich Loco Works.
Stuart Whittle is a founding member and long-term supporter of the Heritage Society and has just been presented with a prestigious award by Horwich Rotary Club. It’s rare for non-Rotarians to be given this particular award and it’s thoroughly deserved. Protecting our local history for all generations to enjoy is very important to the life of communities, and Stuart and his fellow Society members have taken up this mantle with enduring enthusiasm.
