RE the story “Repairs ordeal ‘making me ill’” (The Bolton News Monday, August 4).
Mr Brian Greenhalgh and his 16-year-old son have been living for over a month in conditions that beggar belief.
It is disgraceful that they are contending with damp walls, torn plaster and exposed wires. Not only that, he has a gaping hole in the ceiling.
He is not a well man and living like this is making him worse, further damaging his health.
Attempts to correct these repairs have not been effective and Mr Greenhalgh is still living in this mess until follow-up repairs are carried out early next week.
Bolton at Home is responsible for repairs, but surely Bolton Council should help by asking for priority action on behalf on this poor man.
Bolton Council prides itself saying we are “The Bolton Family”. Well, it looks like this does not apply to Mr Greenhalgh and his son.
Why has it taken so long to get these jobs done?
Why have Breightmet councillors not acted on his behalf to speed up the process of repairs to make sure work is carried out to the highest specification in optimum time.
This means leaving the house in good repair, plus redecoration where necessary.
Perhaps I am being presumptuous and Breightmet councillors have tried to help, in which case the The Bolton News article indicates they have not succeeded.
Or is the case Bolton Council can wash its hands of this matter because Bolton At Home is now responsible?
Meanwhile this man is living in unhygienic, unsafe and what could be life-threatening conditions.
