REGARDING the £11.2m so-called "cuts" to be made at Bolton Council - I think this is just an accounting "myth" put about to pacify ratepayers.
Some items mentioned regarding closure of recuperative services for elderly coming out of hospital, reducing council subsidies at Bolmoor Industries, Heaton Fold Horticultural Centre and Remploy- if you add up these items, the "cuts" total cannot be more than £3/4m at most.
Therefore, I would like the financial director to give a statement showing where the balance of £10.5m is coming from to make up to £11.2m.
Also, before the May elections, I would ask all the political parties to give clear policy statements on how they, if elected, intend to turn Bolton Council into a lean, efficient, cost effective organisation.
I await these responses with bated breath.
