ON October 4, 2006, I wrote to Letters to complain about the withdrawal of the 570 bus service from the Morris Green area after the axeing of the No 12 bus service.

At the time, I asked the people of Morris Green to let the authorities know their feelings regarding the loss of that service because, if they didn't, it would not be long before we had no bus service at all .

After reading The Bolton News on February 2, I was appalled to read the article, "Axe is set to fall on three bus services". So, it looks as if we will have no bus service at all after February 16, as the 554 service (12 replacement service) is one of those under review to be withdrawn.

Even though I predicted this could happen, I am horrified that, in the space of just six months, we will have lost the No 12, 554 and 570 services, leaving the people of Morris Green and Plodder Lane with no bus service at all.

I await comments from Cllr Nick Peel over this latest news, and hopefully some comment from local councillors and MPs, because this is certainly no way to get people out of their cars and on to public transport.

And, finally, children and the over-60s will have to pay more for fares from Monday, February 5, as it is increased from 50p to 70p - not a bad increase that.

So you can't have a service but, if you can find one, you pay more for the privilege. There is only one word to describe this - "pathetic".
