WELL done to young Joe Cowie and his supporters and to Bolton's councillors for the go-ahead on a skatepark for the town.
Council bosses have earmarked a site in the town centre and set aside £75,000 out of next year's budget to build one after a concerted public campaign headed by 15-year-old Joe.
Youngsters need interesting activities of their own to occupy them and burn up energy, and skateboarding is definitely one.
Involving them in planning is certainly the best way forward. So let's hope that "consultation" in this instance really means that, to ensure the skatepark is right from the start and proves to be a real success story.
