I AGREE wholeheartedly with Stuart Whittle on his comments about the ill thought out positioning of the proposed student accommodation blocks.
The Town Hall and Civic Centre are the jewels in the Bolton Crown. Leave the area around it clear!
I too wish that The Shankland Plan had been adopted in the sixties. There was to be a linear park reaching to the archways from Queens Park. Since the powers that be insist on moving the bus station further away from the shops, markets and colleges, they might as well put the students on the bus station. I never had any money when I was a student and I don't think things have changed in that respect. Student spending won't bail out the shops in the town centre.
What would save the town centre might be some fresh councillors!
