IN my reply (January 16) to the confusing letter (January 13) from Cllr Christopher Peacock, Cabinet Member for Adult Services, I requested him to clarify the position following the closure of the Winifred Kettle Intermediate Care Centre and other changes. He has not responded to date.

It has been announced that the transfer from hospital to care in the community will in future be under the control of one organization to provide continuity of care which is long overdue but the public has not been given any further information about the redesigned service.

It would therefore be helpful if Cllr Peacock would clarify the position and also provide the public with the following information:-

1. The number of intermediate care beds before the financial crisis of 2008 and at present.

2. Where are the remaining ones located?

3. Approximately how many patients are there at any one time waiting at the hospital for an intermediate care bed?

4. The number of care workers looking after the elderly in their homes before 2008 and at present.

5. How much time are they allocated for reach visit?

These matters are of concern to all elderly members of the public and perhaps he will therefore favour them with a reply.
