ON a recent discussion at work about climate change with my eco-friendly colleague, Helen, we have come up with a great idea to assist our planet in healing itself.

We think it would be a "do-able" idea to have a vehicle-free day, maybe once a month, on a quiet day like Sunday.

The public would only be allowed to use bikes or walk, but no cars, buses or taxis.

Helen also wanted to suggest using wind turbines on Blackpool beach to power the area - especially the illuminations.

I drive, but would agree to have a vehicle-free day every weekend. But I think to start off with, once a month.

Come on people, let's do it.

Please could this be mentioned in Parliament?

If people have a choice, they'll never give up their cars. It has to be enforced, with punishment for offenders.
