IN answer to Chris Moncrieff's question (January 30) on why we keep on paying money into the European Union, despite the fact that "their accounts are a shambles with millions, if not billions, of pounds squandered or stolen each year", I would like to ask what we ordinary people can do about it?
The former chief accountant of the EU was sacked from her job in 2001 when she refused to sign off the accounts. In one year alone she had found 10,000 possible cases of fraud in the EU accounts, but she was dismissed by Neil Kinnock for "failure to show sufficient loyalty and respect".
Is the main requisite for being an employee of the European Union the ability to cover up fraud?
Chris asks, "Why is this not a huge international scandal?"
Could it be that the "movers and shakers" have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo?
