IT’S daft to be against technology for the sake of it when so much of life now revolves around it.
However, while welcoming controversial smartphone taxi company Uber to Bolton as they gain a 12-month licence, can I just put another perspective on the subject.
Without supporting one local firm over another and allowing for individual experiences to colour opinions, it’s worth remembering that many of our longest-established taxi firms have remained in business because they actually deliver in all senses of the word.
We were badly let down by one taxi firm for our early morning holiday journey to Manchester Airport but, as a result, discovered a brilliant company which swiftly stepped into the breach and saved the day.
We’ve used them ever since, and will continue to do so. We need our local taxis so, please, support them.
