I HAVE just read that a number of back alleys are to be gated at a cost of £30,000. Is this not just a case of moving the problem on to new locations instead of the removal of the problem?
Surely it is the people who were using these areas for nefarious activities that should have been regularly targeted and removed? Once incarcerated, they cannot cause a problem. Don't tell me, the jails are full.
As for prostitutes; anyone who thinks that they can remove the problem may as well do a King Canute on Blackpool beach -command the tide not to come in. Surely the best way to deal with that is to have a number of accepted designated regions in industrial areas where they can get on with it without being harassed? Appropriate help and ways out of the situation could also be on offer. Then those in residential areas could be left in peace.
