REGARDING the attack on the town's elephants.
Do the councillors and senior officers of this town live in the real world?
To expect such highly decorated items not to become the target of vandalism is like hanging £20 notes from trees and expecting them to be there the following morning.
Why were they not encased in a glass housing like the wheel at the other end of the precinct?
The two that were not damaged beyond repair may find sanctuary behind the £50,000-£90,000 gates once they are installed across the town hall steps?
Not many years ago, Bolton suffered irreparable damage to another of its elephants. That one was white and known as The Water Place.
On a more positive note, if there are insufficient funds for repairs to the elephants, the council tax payers probably won't mind the council wasting more of the town's scarce funds to replace them.
