MAY I answer Derek Bullock’s letter?

I don’t think he even lives in a parallel world. The nasty (Conservative) party wish to take up to £3,000 off hard-working families. I notice he didn’t address this in his letter; Chris Green voted in favour of it thus penalising many of his hard-working constituents.

This government may have reduced your direct taxation but it has dramatically increased indirect taxation, the latest being nearly doubling the tax on insurance. Once again, hitting the poorest the hardest but that’s what the nasty party does.

As far as debt is concerned, who paid the national debt after the Second World War? It was paid for by the much maligned baby boomers. The last payment was made by Gordon Brown. It’s what’s known as fixing the roof when the sun shines.

The national debt of this nation now stands at over 1.5 trillion pounds. Since the nasty party came to power the world is going back into a recession and I hope that Mr Bullock will remember this and blame them for it. The recession we entered into was caused by bankers, nothing to do as such with the government. We are living on credit, the world is living on credit and it cannot last.

The only plan politicians have is to take what little the poor have and give it to the rich and sink this country into even greater debt.

Only the service sector is growing; manufacturing down, building down, everything down. Mrs Thatcher set us on the road to ruin. The Conservatives are going to end up with this country bankrupt and in an even worse recession. The effective rate of tax on low-income after the cuts to tax credits will be 93%! The rich have seen their taxes come down because the Chancellor has said he has to make work pay for the for the richest as well as the poorest people Just to remind you it is about choices that the government makes — it can increase taxes on the very rich and corporate business, but it doesn’t.

Yours sincerely

Ian Greenhalgh
