I JOINED my friends, a season ticket holder, on a visit to watch Bolton in their cup match v Eastleigh.
We arrived in good time to be confronted by an enormous queue. For some reason, insufficient gates had been opened,
We managed to sit down just in time for kick-off. After nearly 15 minutes, spectators were still shuffling past seated spectators to sit down.
It is astonishing that a club desperate for funds and support should treat fans in such an awful way.
And the match? A dreadful spectacle involving lack of positive movement, wild defending and a reluctance to attack into the box. I don't think I have witnessed such a poor professional display.
Whatever financial restrictions, these are professionals who receive professional coaching. At least on pitch failure, after attempting to do the right thing would have been appreciated.
The evening was somewhat lifted by the banter of the crowd and well done to the Wanderers fans for giving Eastleigh well-deserved applause after the game,
I'd heard and read of the dire situation. Now I see how dire, Forward planning for survival in the lower division may now be the best option.
