WHAT is the fixation that our council leader has with Little Lever Library?

It is not that long ago the council was closing libraries down to save money (£400,000).

But now he wants to spend near to £1000,000 on a library in Little Lever the residents do not want. They are proud of their library, it was gifted to them and carries the War Memorial to those who gave their lives serving their town and country during the two world wars.

There is ample room to extend the existing library on the present site, which the residents feel would be a better and cheaper alternative.

As regards consultation, the local councillors were not aware that the project was proceeding until news of it appeared in The Bolton News.

If he wants to spend money in large amounts like this, why not listen to the residents of Little Lever and their councillors and provide a new health centre and clinic which is definitely needed in the village.
