REGARDING "graffiti vandalism", (The Bolton News, June 21). I think it is only balanced to make two points: Firstly, I have been observing and enjoying street art for years and secondly, I strongly dislike vandalism.
Agreeably there has been a stream of ill-written names on shop fronts for years, and it can be an eyesore, whereas, in Manchester, some shops have it painted on the front as decor by good artists and it looks great.
Nero need places to practise so they can build up their skills - the proposed skateboard park, the library and the Lads & Girls Club could all be maintained and whitewashed to keep it fresh and provide an area.
I don't want private property defaced, and I do live in Gilnow, but we should give provision and opportunity before using an overstretched police force for extra patrols.
