SO now that we are at last rid of Tony Blair, it has emerged that as he was about to commit his usual capitulation at his final Euro summit until Gordon Brown forcefully reminded him of his stated commitments.

Both Blair and Prescott, well known for their addiction to "freebies", have managed a final one. They are being allowed to use Chequers and Admiralty House after they leave office on very spurious grounds.

We still await Blair's decision on his conversion to the Catholic faith. i wonder if he realises the importance of the confessional to committed Catholics.

I am appalled at the suggestion that the US, Russia, and the UN, among others, are proposing Blair to be a Middle East Peace Envoy.

This really does leave a bad taste. It would be a final insult to all our armed services who have died or been injured in the now pointless conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are now patently not wanted, or appreciated, and are also poorly equipped for the task.

It must have been somewhat galling to Tony Blair when Harriet Harmon was elected as deputy leader. She of all the six candidates was the only one to criticise him in cabinet in 1999, for which she was promptly sacked.
