The Royal Bolton Hospital is rightly in the frame for one of this region's, along with St Mary's in Manchester and the Royal Oldham Hosptal.
It has just been announced that a record number of babies were born in Bolton in the past year. This is not all about soaring local birth-rates but about personal choice.
The Princess Anne Maternity Unit here is popular with parents because of the high standard of care on offer. It deserves this status, and the public obviously agrees.
