I WAS a little surprised to read of the proposed Westhoughton by-pass in The Bolton News.
Whilst a keen car driver myself covering about 10,000 miles a year, I thought there would be more pressing uses for such funding.
I have also used Westhoughton’s Railway Station over the years and in recent years, I’ve found parking on the car park almost impossible during the day as all spaces are occupied.
Perhaps this is in part due to the improvements on the station itself by the Friends of Westhoughton Station.
No spaces are now available on Trackside Approach as all spaces are also fully occupied and some extension to the car park itself is long overdue. An extension to the car park would encourage more use of the train and help reduce traffic in the town.
