I AM so disappointed that Bolton Tory Party is trying to make political gains through the plight of asylum seekers.
No-one would disagree that all local authorities should play their part in supporting people fleeing for their lives, but I am proud that Bolton Council has stepped up to the mark and taken a small number of asylum seekers into the borough.
Every day on our televisions we see the plight of fellow human beings facing the most horrendous situations, being tortured and killed, losing their homes and their families.
The shock is not that Bolton has taken a third of the most vulnerable asylum seekers but that the UK has only accepted 750 refugees even though the Tory Government pledged to take many more. For the fifth richest nation on our planet this is really not good enough.
