The write up by David Gauke (New drive to divert vulnerable criminals away from jail) was interesting to read, but to be honest, unless more money is put into drug treatment this will be a waist of time .
I have a 43-year-old son who has been addicted to drugs since he was 16.
My point is they ring for help and treatment only to get an appointment maybe four to six weeks later.
That's only step one — assessment.
Drugs, drink and mental health issues are all mostly combined.
My son as his own flat, but as been given notice, even though it's provided by a housing association that is supposedly supporting people the above issues.
It seems this company is for people with problems, but as soon as they become a problem, they given notice instead of help.
It is an ongoing painful burden for parents as well as the individuals.
