With reference to your report "Crackdown on town centre undesirables".

As a cyclist I would just like to know who these people are who are constantly moaning about cyclists in the town centre.

My advice would be - get off your backsides and get on to two wheels, it would do you the world of good and might even get you an extra 10 years of life in good health.

There are more people killed by cars in a year than there ever have been by cyclists colliding with pedestrians and cars are the main source of noise and pollution.

We cyclists should have our own cycleways clearly marked out along pavements, (not on the road), and through town centres such as Victoria Square, like they have in any other European countries.

And asking the police to crackdown on passive beggars, (not chuggers), is absolutely ridiculous.

They don't even have the resources to tackle crimes such as burglaries successfully.

The council should be housing these people with the support they need whatever their circumstances. I find the charity collectors who stand at the check-outs at some of the town centre super markets far more annoying.

And on the subject of amplifiers, why does the council allow Bolton FM out on the square blasting their decibels to the high heavens from a mobile disco trailer every time there is an event or market stalls?

One of the reasons why people are put off coming to the town centre is that more and more shops and pubs are closing down and boarding up.

Do not blame it on cyclists, skateboarders, beggars, mobility scooters et al.
