THERE seems to be an abhorrence by the powers that be against providing toilets for the general public — or at best, treating toilets as a mini cash cow.

On Sunday, we embarked on a coach trip to York, arriving at Bolton bus station, by taxi, as there were no suitable buses, at 9am.

We thought it would be sensible to use the toilet prior to a two-hour journey.

Of course, on bank holiday Sunday, with several hundred people planning similar trips to ours, the toilets were closed.

We walked over the footbridge to the rail station, but that was closed as well.

Yes, I know most modern coaches have toilets, but it’s a bit worrying taking that chance.

Bolton seems to be like a Third World country.

No buses,no trains and no toilets.

York doesn’t escape my wrath as the toilets at York station shut at 4 pm and cost 40p to use.

Also, Manchester Airport is a pain if you take friend or relation to the airport you may well get stuck in a traffic jam and get there needing a three-minute stop to use the toilet.

It will cost you at least £3 for your trouble.
