WHILE applauding Cllr Linda Thomas' stand on free school meals for first termers, she goes on to mention the Labour Party's efforts to end child obesity.
Point one: Could the money to pay for these free school meals be coming from the proposed end to free milk for pupils at nurseries and primary schools, which is on the table for discussion by this current Labour Government?
Point two: If this Labour Government is so obsessed with ending obesity, why does it keep giving planning permission to so many fast food and takeaway businesses in the Bolton area?
Just look at Market street in Farnworth. Go to the junction of Longcauseway and Albert Road and head for the fire station, and count how many food places you find.
Rusholme has the Curry Mile, in Bolton we are becoming takeaway city.
