ONCE again I read The Bolton News to find that Bolton councillors have got it wrong again ("Store giant's quit threat", April 19).

Do these councillors walk round with blinkered vision? There are buildings boarded up within Crompton Place, and also within Bolton town centre itself. Do they not understand that if Primark expands it will bring more people to Bolton.

Over the past years, Bolton has declined to rows of pound shops. In Newport Street, there used to be rows of shoe and dress shops, which have all gone now. The only thing we seem to need are coffee shops.

And as for our famous Bolton Market, once again we must thank the council for what has happened there with rising rent costs.

I have grown up in Bolton all my life and have such good memories of Bolton Market. I can remember where many of the old stalls were. These councillors should take their blinkers off and go round Bolton having a good look.

Car park prices are soaring and there is no hustle and bustle any more.

Over the past few months I have been going to Bury. What a treat.

The market at 9.30am on a Saturday morning is busy and full of wonderful stalls. Not just fish, meat and fruit, but everything you can think of.

There was once a wonderful wool stall on Bolton market. On Tuesdays and Saturdays it now resides on Bury Market. Well done Bolton.

From Bury Market you walk into the Millgate shopping complex. I was so amazed. And for parking, again, well done Bury.

Having a shop like Primark in Bolton would bring in more jobs and shoppers.

Closing the door to Crompton Place in Bradshawgate will have no effect on shoppers at all.

The only time this road is busy is when late night drinkers are around at the weekend.

I am sure that if Primark got planning permission, there would be another door made available.

Well done Bolton councillors for taking trade away from Bolton.

As time goes by, we won't even be on the map.
