THROUGHOUT the congestion charge debate, those concerned have forgotten about one thing - can we not try to stop this congestion?

Yes, we know that whatever Government is in power will want and probably need the money raised from the motor industry.

However, as with smoking, there comes a time when enough is enough. Driving is now a nightmare and all the traffic calming, road safety and traffic flow measures that have been introduced throughout the country does not help.

Even driving in the country is becoming difficult.

With an increasing population, the building of shopping centres and flats on every available piece of land in the country, and many towns and villages calling for bypasses, there will eventually be no room to move about.

Maybe we could encourage a debate on congestion charges for humans, buildings etc?
