SO Barry Conway, secretary of the Bolton NUT, believes that the closure of many of Bolton's schools for the teachers' strike is to be regarded as "fantastic news".
I regard this and other comments attributed to him, as disgraceful - especially from a man in his position.
I believe he should expressing regret at the current situation, rather than taking apparent delight in the reprehensible action by teachers.
I have worked in several schools in the Bolton area and know that many teachers do an excellent job.
However, they are living in dreamland if they think a seven per cent, or £3,000, will be achieved by strike action or otherwise.
Teachers have very good terms and conditions, and generally should be well satisfied with their lot.
I respectfully suggest they desist from any further strikes and work to the best of their ability -thus maintaining the public's regard.
