I WAS sad to read that the young deer who survived a car accident had been put down, not because he was injured but because he was too tame, and what made it worse was that this was done by the RSPCA, the so-called charity which is meant to save and protect animals.

I agree with Mr Symonds who says the RSPCA has lost its way. It is true it wants the limelight and TV coverage — it wants our money by donations.

I lost faith in it some time ago and give my donations to smaller animal charities who care about the animals, not the limelight.

I am sure a home could have been found for this young deer if the RSPCA could have been bothered.

Instead, it took the shortcut.
