I AGREE 100 per cent with Ainslie Casson (Letters, July 27, "A Tax on plastic bags a good idea").

A charge WOULD make people think twice about using them in supermarkets. This has been a great success in Ireland.

The bins, the bins! What an issue. It appears to be a status symbol the richer we are, the more bins we need. We need to set a good example to our children. The healthier we are, the less bins we require. We haven't a choice.

If we want space for our children and grandchildren to play, we need to take recycling seriously or we will end up as Great (Rubbish Tip) Britain.
