I AM writing in response to the article entitled, “NHS Bolton to halt homeopathy treatments”.

I wish to advise that there are many other treatments, tried and tested, such as physiotherapy and other remedies, including acupuncture, that are available on the NHS, which unfortunately do not work for everyone. I did not ask to become disabled. As a result, I have had to revert to paying for chiropractic treatment which has proved to very beneficial, in order to keep as healthy as possible ... but try telling this to the finance officers at our local Adult and Community Services (Social Services) at Bolton Council.

Although I may appear to look quite healthy, that is as a result of the above treatment and the small care package I receive through the Adult Services that helps me to have a reasonably active and independent quality of life.

I am sure I am not the only one and would like to hear from any other readers who are experiencing and fighting decisions that are being made when our local Adult and Community Services department seem to have a mind of their own, by putting their own policies first, instead of one's individual health, as according to the government guidelines.

Yes! We are all aware of the budget cuts, but is it fair, when the elderly and the disabled will be having their care cut back by petty finance officers?
