COLIN Gunn, one of Britain’s most notorious murderers, and serving life, has invoked his human rights to force prison officers to call him “Mr”.
The ruling came after Mr Gunn complained to the prisons and probations ombudsman saying he was not being treated with sufficient respect. His complaint was upheld and, as a result, officers were told to address him in the manner of his choosing, “Mr”, apparently more befitting his position as a gang boss.
So howmight a cyclist invoke his/her human rights and force drivers to pass them at a non-intimidating distance and speed? Many a person is fearful of cycling on UK roads because they perceive them to be too dangerous.
A man doesn’t have to be a ruthless gangster to be a killer. On average, six people—children, parents, grandparents—are killed on UK roads every day, and simply because millions of drivers have no respect for the Highway Code. This could be eradicated with just a little bit more respect for speed limits.
