HAVE never contacted the paper before, but today I feel enough is enough. The subject of this letter is our wonderful refuse collection service — 2010 saw bins unemptied on several occasions with calls to the council by myself and neighbours falling on deaf ears.

At least 2011 will bring a better service, or so we hoped! Alas it was not to be. The very first collection of the year was due today, the bin wagons were back and forth along Leigh Road in Westhoughton all day. It looked promising. At last the wagon came along Leigh Road emptying bins as it went. That is until they came to our row of houses, which they totally ignored for reasons known only to themselves.

The recycling hasn’t been taken for a month now, so you can imagine what that’s like. All in all the the collection service we are paying for is rubbish!

If I did my job like they do theirs, I would expect to be shown the door.

I have contacted the council, but I won’t hold my breath.
