I WISH to take issue with Mubarak Sadar over remarks he has made in The Bolton News about the Church Hotel in Crook Street, Bolton.
Apart from the “body in the cellar” incident, he says “the building has been associated with some unpleasant things in recent years”.
I do hope he was not referring to the many years it has been running as an attractive venue for the Gay Community in Bolton.
Many a happy hour has been spent there.
And there was considerably less trouble than you would find in any “straight” pub in Bolton.
Although the good news is that it is not going to be demolished, even better would be for it to return to its previous use as a much needed place for lesbians and gay men to meet in sympathetic surroundings.
Does the town really need any more apartments?
