GREATER Manchester Police chief Peter Fahy, pictured, is right – we don’t want our police officers with five o’clock shadows.
He’s laid down the law among force members to ban designer stubble although still allows tidy beards.
“Stubble is fine for socialising,” he says, “but a shave is required before coming on duty.”
We may want our male movie stars and favourite singers to sport trendy stubble, but we want our police to look smart, disciplined and in charge — presenting a professional image that sparks public confidence.
