IT is one of Bolton’s best-ever initiatives and it’s set to run for six weeks over the Summer.
The Bolton 2012 Games may not have all the glamour and glitz of that other set of games taking place in London currently, but it will be make a real difference for hundreds of local children.
The Games have been organised by Bolton Lads and Girls Club and Bolton Council and they are a terrific translation of all that’s best in sport and the Olympics with a huge added dose of fun.
More than 800 youngsters have the chance to try 43 different sports run by 40 different clubs. This will not only help fill the long school holidays with healthy activity but could introduce children to new sports that will provide lifelong interests. Children love running around and, contrary to modern thinking, love competing. The Games are a brilliant way of getting our kids involved and trying new sports. Well done to everyone involved!
